Slow Down or Move Over
February 23, 2010 Slow Down or Move Over

Not everyone knows about the Ohio slow down or move over law and yes it is a law, it is also a good habit even if it isn't an emergency vehicle. Here at All Fleet Towing & Recovery it a rule we stress to all of our employees no matter what the vehicle is we practice this for every one's safety it could save the lives of police officers, fire/ems personal or even your life. Everyone has seen that person changing a tire next to a freeway or roadway with traffic rushing past just inches from them. But do you think about getting over a lane or slowing down?
Here is some food for thought
According to the Ohio public safety report for 2008 there was 710,882 accidents in the state of Ohio for that year
1,191 were fatal
11,113 were seriously injured
46,875 were injured but not incapacitating
55,416 possible injuries
565,589 no injury
31,698 not stated
Now 1,191 fatalities means 1,191 affected families who lost mothers, fathers, sons and daughters who they will never see again. If anyone of these deaths could have been prevented by simply slowing down or moving over a lane it would have been well worth it. So next time you are behind the wheel controlling several tons of moving steel remember to keep an eye out for vehicle next to the roadway and slow down or move over.
